Connect X
How to connect X to SolMarrow step by step, what you can publish, the limits, and tips for better X posts.
What you can post: Posts, with X credits or your own X key.
How to connect
- Open Accounts in the SolMarrow sidebar.
- Choose X.
- Connect with X's own sign-in (OAuth 2.0), so SolMarrow never sees your password. X charges apps for every post made through its API, so your posts use SolMarrow X credits (100 credits for $5 or 500 for $20), or you add your own X developer key and pay X directly.
- Back in SolMarrow, the account shows as connected. You can now pick it under Post to in the composer.
What you can publish
- Text posts: Up to 280 characters. Every link counts as 23 characters, the same way X counts it, so the number you see is the number X sees.
- Image posts: Attach up to 4 images to one tweet. They show as a grid in the timeline, which works well for screenshots, product shots and step-by-step visuals.
- Video posts: One video per tweet, up to 512 MB. A post carries either images or a video, not both, and the composer tells you before you schedule.
Limits
- Text: up to 280 characters.
- Media: up to 4 images or up to 1 video.
- Uses X credits or your own X key.
Tips
- Lead with the point: People skim the timeline fast. Put the claim, question or result in the first few words, then add context if you still have room.
- One idea per tweet: A tweet that tries to say three things usually lands none of them. If you have more to say, schedule a few separate posts across the week.
- Let images do the explaining: A chart, a before-and-after or a screenshot of the result often says more than 280 characters can. Up to 4 images fit in one post.
- Be there after it posts: Scheduling handles the timing, but conversations happen in the replies. Plan to check X for a while after an important post goes live.
Questions
Is it free to schedule tweets with SolMarrow?
SolMarrow itself is free, with unlimited accounts and posts. X is the exception: X charges apps for each post made through its API, so publishing to X uses X credits (100 for $5, 500 for $20) unless you connect your own X developer key.
Why does posting to X cost credits?
X bills every app per post sent through its API, and charges more for posts with a link. Credits pass that cost through. Other networks on SolMarrow don't use credits.
What happens to my credits if a tweet fails?
Credits are taken just before the post is sent. If it doesn't go out, they're given back, and the post shows as failed with the reason so you can fix it and try again.
Can I use my own X developer key?
Yes. Add your own X developer key and your posts are billed to your X developer account instead of using SolMarrow credits.
