Connect Tumblr
How to connect Tumblr to SolMarrow step by step, what you can publish, the limits, and tips for better Tumblr posts.
What you can post: Blogs.
How to connect
- Open Accounts in the SolMarrow sidebar.
- Choose Tumblr.
- Connect with Tumblr's own sign-in and pick the blog SolMarrow should post to. SolMarrow never sees your password, and you can remove its access whenever you like.
- Back in SolMarrow, the account shows as connected. You can now pick it under Post to in the composer.
Tip: Connect in the same browser where you are already signed in to the network, so you only need to confirm.
What you can publish
- Text posts: Up to 4,096 characters, enough for a short essay, a list or a quick update for your followers.
- Photo posts: Up to 10 images in one post, made for art sets, comics, moodboards and photo series.
- Video posts: One video per post. Photos and video don't share a post, and the composer flags it before you schedule.
Limits
- Text: up to 4,096 characters.
- Media: up to 10 images or up to 1 video.
Tips
- Tag for the tag feeds: Many people on Tumblr follow tags, not just blogs. Use the tags your audience actually follows, plus your own blog tag so visitors can browse your work.
- Make posts reblog-friendly: A post that makes sense on its own is easier to reblog. Add a short line of context so it still reads well when it shows up on someone else's blog.
- Keep your name on your art: Reblogs can travel far from the original post. A small signature or your blog name on the image keeps the work connected to you.
- Space posts out: Ten posts in one minute can flood your followers' dashboards. Spread them across the day in the calendar so each one gets seen.
Questions
Can SolMarrow post to Tumblr automatically?
Yes. SolMarrow publishes text, photo and video posts through Tumblr's official API at the time you schedule, with your tags attached.
Which blog does SolMarrow post to?
The blog you pick when you connect your Tumblr account. Posts for that connection always go to that blog.
How many images can a Tumblr post have?
Up to 10 images, or 1 video. Images and video can't be combined in the same post, and the composer tells you before you schedule.
Can I add tags to my Tumblr posts?
Yes. Add tags in the composer and they're published with the post, so it shows up in the tag feeds people follow.
