Connect WordPress
How to connect WordPress to SolMarrow step by step, what you can publish, the limits, and tips for better WordPress posts.
What you can post: Your own WordPress site.
How to connect
- Open Accounts in the SolMarrow sidebar.
- Choose WordPress.
- Enter your site address, your WordPress username and an Application Password, which you create in WordPress under Users → Profile (WordPress 5.6 or later). It's a separate key, not your login password, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
- Back in SolMarrow, the account shows as connected. You can now pick it under Post to in the composer.
What you can publish
- Blog posts: A title of up to 200 characters, your text as paragraphs, and tags. If you don't set a title, SolMarrow uses the first line of the text.
- Posts with media: The first image becomes the featured image and the rest of your media appears inline in the post.
- WordPress drafts: Save the post as a draft on your site instead of publishing it, then add the final touches in WordPress.
Limits
- Text: up to 100,000 characters.
- Media: up to 10 images or up to 1 video.
- The first line becomes the title unless you set one.
Tips
- Name your Application Password: Call it something clear like "SolMarrow" when you create it. If you ever stop using a tool, you can revoke just that key without changing your login.
- Put your best image first: The first image becomes the featured image, which most themes show in post lists and many sites use when a post is shared. Choose a wide, clean image.
- Title for search: Use the words readers would type into a search engine and put the main phrase near the start. Short, specific titles are less likely to be cut off in results.
- Draft long pieces first: For long articles, save a WordPress draft and check headings, links and formatting in the block editor before you publish.
