How to connect Instagram to SolMarrow step by step, what you can publish, the limits, and tips for better Instagram posts.

How to connect
- Open Accounts in the SolMarrow sidebar.
- Choose Instagram.
- Connect with Instagram's own login. You need a professional account (business or creator), which is free to switch to in Instagram's settings, and no Facebook Page is required. SolMarrow never sees your password and renews access automatically before it expires.
- Back in SolMarrow, the account shows as connected. You can now pick it under Post to in the composer.
What you can publish
- Image posts: A single photo with a caption of up to 2,200 characters and alt text, so your post is readable for people using screen readers.
- Reels: Upload one video and it publishes as a Reel. SolMarrow checks the file against Instagram's 300 MB limit before you schedule, not after it fails.
- Carousels: Up to 10 images and videos in one swipeable post. Mix photos and clips freely in the same post.
Limits
- Text: up to 2,200 characters.
- Media: up to 10 images or up to 10 videos; an image or video is required.
Tips
- Hook in the first line: Instagram cuts captions after about two lines in the feed. Put the reason to stop scrolling first and the details after.
- Use carousels for saves: Step-by-step guides, before-and-after shots and checklists work well as carousels because people swipe through and save them for later.
- Keep Reels vertical: Film in 9:16 and keep the important part of the frame away from the edges, where Instagram places the caption and buttons.
- Post at a steady pace: A plan you can keep up beats bursts of posting. Batch a week of content in one sitting and let the calendar do the rest.
Questions
Can SolMarrow post to Instagram automatically?
Yes. SolMarrow publishes image posts, Reels and carousels directly through Instagram's official API at the time you schedule. You don't get a reminder to finish the post on your phone; it simply goes live.
Do I need a business account?
You need a professional account, which can be a business or a creator account. Switching is free in Instagram's settings and keeps your followers and posts. A Facebook Page is not required.
Can I schedule Instagram Stories?
Not yet. SolMarrow schedules image posts, Reels and carousels. Stories are not part of what we publish today.
Why does Instagram need an image or video on every post?
Instagram has no text-only posts. SolMarrow's composer shows this before you schedule, so you can add media or leave Instagram out of that post.
